As part of the international co-production project BRNO CONNECTS, INDUSTRA SPACE invites you to the production of FESTE Ihate /young people in times of extremism/. The performance will be followed by a discussion "Actors' experiences with international independent projects."
In the discussion after the performance we will discuss acting in the Czech Republic from the perspective of foreigners involved in the production of Ihate. Together we will explore the benefits of participating in international projects and ways to find foreign acting opportunities - including specific opportunities available in Germany. We will focus on dealing with language barriers and self-care strategies, adapting to conditions in a new country, negotiating working conditions as well as discussing accounting and tax issues. We will also cover practical topics related to residencies.

Karolina Höfer is a German dramaturg and playwright currently based in Bratislava. Höfer is a graduate of Freie Universität Berlin and has gained experience mainly in the Berlin Schaubühne, theatres in Darmstadt, Hannover and Mecklenburg. She moves between original, experimental projects and productions for repertory theatres.

Performance Annotation:
In 1939, twenty-six-year-old Jura Soyfer loses his life in the Buchenwald concentration camp. A playwright, writer, Jew, born in Kharkov, Ukraine. In 2022, twenty-six-year-old Juraj Vankulič is killed in front of the Tepláreň club in Bratislava. Son, salesman at H&M, gay, born in Žilina, Slovakia. What else connects these two fates?
